Cookies · How the Site Remembers You
Cookie Policy. Minimal by design.
What cookies and similar technologies this website uses, why, and how to control them.
01What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, or to work more efficiently, and to provide information to site operators. Similar technologies — including local storage and pixel tags — are covered by this policy where used.
This policy is issued under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK GDPR.
02Our approach
Futures House operates a minimal cookie footprint. The Site does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or behavioural profiling. We do not embed third-party advertising networks. Where cookies are used, they fall into the categories set out below.
03Categories of cookies we use
| Category | Purpose | Consent required |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Enable core site functionality such as page navigation, secure access to administrative areas, and form submission. Includes WordPress session and security cookies, and anti-spam tokens set by the WPForms plugin. | No (exempt under PECR) |
| Functional | Remember interface preferences and dismissed notices — for example, whether you have already seen and closed a pop-up. Set by WP Popups Lite. | No (strictly required for the requested feature) |
| Analytics | Aggregate, non-identifying usage statistics. Not currently in use on this Site. If introduced, consent will be requested before any analytics cookies are set. | Yes, if introduced |
| Marketing | Not used. The Site does not run advertising or remarketing campaigns. | — |
04Third-party cookies
The Site does not embed third-party advertising or social-tracking pixels. Where the Site links out to third-party services — for example, LinkedIn, ORCID, Google Scholar, or Amazon — those services operate under their own privacy and cookie policies, which apply once you leave the Site.
05How to manage cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse new cookies, delete existing cookies, or be alerted when cookies are being set. Instructions are available from your browser provider:
General information on cookies, including how to manage them, is available at aboutcookies.org.
If you block strictly necessary cookies, some parts of the Site may not function correctly.
06Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our cookie use changes — for example, if analytics tooling is added in future. The current version is the one in effect, dated at the top of this page.
